The growth of a sustainable bioeconomy in the Amazon requires the formation of a new generation of specialists capable of combining scientific knowledge and market opportunities. The Rainforest Business School must structure a new field of knowledge of possible processes, products, and businesses in harmony with the intact forest.
Rainforest Business School should serve an audience inside and outside Amazonia through a network of universities and business schools, and online courses. The target audience includes MBA students, industrial and business communities, program and public policy administrators, specialized civil society companies, and especially the communities in the region. Amazon Creative Labs and innovative ventures in the region will serve as field schools in various locations.
Rainforest Business School’s ambition is to develop an interdisciplinary curriculum of business related to rainforest and fisheries, encompassing science, technology and product and value chain development, market mechanisms and socio-cultural, legal and political affairs. The curriculum will emphasize respect for environmental safeguards, intellectual property and the rights and cultures of the local community.
